Rev. Cardette S. Carroll is the daughter of the late Fannie and Willie Morris (Deacon of Ebenezer) and she joined Ebenezer Baptist Church at the tender age of six. She received her primary and secondary education in Austin Independent School District and did undergraduate work at Sam Houston State University where she earned the Bachelor of Arts Degree in Teaching History and English in 1973. After completing college, she moved to San Antonio where she commenced her teaching career, married, and gave birth to her daughter, U-Meeka. Years later she relocated to Austin and resumed membership at Ebenezer.

Rev. Carroll is a much-awarded educator, having served many years as a highly-successful classroom teacher as well as a professional staff person with proven abilities to create and monitor policies and practices that promote a safe learning environment. A sampling of her awards include: Teacher of the Month, Teacher of the Year, and Outstanding Black Educator Award.

After her call to the ministry, Rev. Carroll continued her educational pursuits to better prepare herself for the task given to her by God. She entered Austin Theological Seminary where she completed requirements for a Masters of Arts Degree in Theological Studies in 2004.

Cardette has served in several positions at Ebenezer, including: Sunday School Teacher, Director of Girls’ Auxiliary, Minister of Evangelism, President of Circle 12 (Mission One) and, Assistant Discipleship Training Teacher.

Rev. Carroll states the following as her beliefs: “I believe that God is real. He is the Source to whom I go. I believe in the Holy Trinity and how it operates in the lives of Christians. Faith in God’s unchanging hand and prayer are the two spiritual tools used in my daily life as a Christian. I love preaching and teaching God’s Gospel and Holy Word.”

Her daughter, U-Meeka Rochele, is currently a practicing attorney in New York City.
